The BESSEY Group was born in Bessay & Sohn, founded in 1889 in Stuttgart by Max Bessey, as a shining steel design factory. Production of hand tools began in 1936 with the BESSEY clamshell of the original malleable cast iron. Other innovations such as the original BESSEY steel clamp, patented in 1952, were followed.
